Wishbone is an American live-action children's television series created by Rick Duffield and produced by Big Feats! Entertainment, a division of Lyrick Studios. The show ran from 1995-1997, airing on PBS.
The show was concluded by a 95-minute television film, Wishbone's Dog Days of the West.
HiT Entertainment bought the rights to the show in 2001, resulting in the show being taken off PBS stations which still aired it. in 2006,however, Wishbone was acquired to air on PBS' new 24 hour all day PBS Kids GO! channel, set to launch the same year. The channel was ultimately cancelled, but the show returned to many stations, on the PBS Kids GO block, however most dropped the show by 2010. Despite most stations not airing it after 2010, PBS still had the rights to air the show until the closure of HiT Entertainment.
In 2011, HIT Entertainment released a DVD which had 4 episodes of Wishbone and was the last home media release of the show.
After a long series hiatus with nothing new for the show, Mattel films confirmed a new Wishbone movie was in production in 2020.
